I’ll have to hunt it down, but I’m pretty sure they mentioned something in that line when they announced their lineup of smartphone games.

What @Chorazin means is that those two games (Amiibo Festival and Happy Home Designer) were spin-offs. A “real full Animal Crossing game” is one where you get to live your everyday life in it, bounding with your neighbours, gardening, catching fish and insects, enjoying the special events happening on holidays… You can do none of these things in both spin-off games.

Thinking about it… I hope that this mobile game doesn’t require a constant connection. That’s probably one of my biggest gripes with Super Mario Run… How am I supposed to play it on the subway?!
I get that, but does Nintendo?
Well, along those lines I do wonder what Nintendo sees “Animal Crossing” as being. From a fan side of things, I think many people see it as the non-HHD + AF games. I feel like whether Nintendo agrees or disagrees with that could have some big implications for what this could be, as there could be focuses that fans see as departures from the existing games that may not really be that in Nintendo’s eyes.
I guess we’ll see later tonight, in any case.

I heard a rumor it’s going to be an endless runner, and I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry at that.
To be clear, I have no reason to believe it’s real, but I’m not torn between laughing at it being absurd or crying because it’s sadly a believable thing Nintendo would do on mobile.

They should make an animal crossing clicker. I’d be into that!
Ironically that world would be a much better place for her. Either that, or just have her be someone optional or there like Tom Nook, Able, Sable, etc. No need to shove her on the front of every box, make her the AC mascot or go as far as they’re going. It’s driving me nuts and I can’t stand it.
