‘Anodyne,’ a Thoughtful 2D Zelda-Like, is Now on Consoles

I first reviewed Anodyne in 2013. In fact, it was my very first game review as a full-time game journalist, way back in my first month at Polygon. And it forever has a special place in my heart as one of my all-time favorite Zelda games (even though, of course, it’s not actually Zelda).

Wow, this game looks neat. I wonder if I’ll ever stop having the gut reaction of “Perfect for Switch,” but boy does this look perfect for Switch. Any news on a port?

Also, don’t forget, the sequel is on its way (hopefully) next year!

It’s coming to Switch this month! I’m pretty excited to try it!

Anodyne is like Link’s Awakening by way of EarthBound with a dash of Silent Hill. It’s dreamy and surreal and at times creepy and horrifying. I’m still not sure what it was all about, but it felt brilliant. Really looking forward to playing through it again.
