Now that you mention it, I don’t think anyone specifically mentions setting. Although… there is an interesting detail in that later in the trailer, one of the protagonists has a Vietnam-era olive drab utility shirt with the name tape stripped but the “U.S. Army” tape embroidery still present. I know those kinda came into fashion at some point internationally, but it might be fair for someone to guess at this point that the respective protagonist wearing it could’ve been ex-Army that got wrapped up in some bad business.
I thought a saw an American flag sticker in the convenience store while they’re robbing it, but I might be misremembering. Some of the shots of them on the run make me think they might do an ‘escape to South America’ sort of thing, though, so I don’t know if the whole game takes place in the US. (I guess it could be a Canadian prison, and their escape to Brazil or whatever entails crossing the United States.)
I’m excited for this because I’m excited for any co-op games that can be played locally or online (okay, and I love the 70’s aesthetics). My favorite and most memorable videogame experiences have been those I enjoyed with friends.
The teaser doesn’t inspire great confidence in its story (I’m also disappointed by the first look at the leads. I think this would have been a great opportunity to feature another kind of character as a main protagonist, especially if the game chooses to go with a standard prison break plot) but it doesn’t need to have a killer story to be a great co-op game.
Basically, I’m desperate for games like this and I’m willing to overlook anything short of egregious.
so far this is my game of the show, I really want to play through this with my brother. we played through Human Fall Flat together and honestly we slot pretty easily into the roles of “guy who is more methodical” and “guy who is going to go loud and sort it out”
