Comey isn’t needed for the investigation to proceed, no, but whoever 45 replaces him with might have an eye toward obstructing it. Hard to do anything when hamstrung by your boss.

Do you realize the FBI has 30,000 employees? Do you honestly think their political figurehead, their director, is going to be what makes or breaks it? I think they can handle the Russia investigation just fine
Yeah, I do think the head of the FBI, who will now be appointed by Trump, will influence how the FBI will investigate Trump.
It’s clearly a distraction from corruption in the DNC, as the Russians actually did us a favor by exposing real corruption in our elections. Realize any time the MSM is pushing a narrative (like “Russiagate”) without any evidence you have to be suspicious.

It interesting how fast Trump’s problem are paling up and that every move just makes thing worst. For a man who wants to move his agenda forward he doing a poor job at being clever about it with even his own party is looking down at him.
I just think that’s a naive view of the Deep State. Why do you think their new figurehead will be more pro-Trump than Comey, when Comey was already clearly pro-Trump? Remember when the democrats we’re screaming for Comey to be fired because 6 days before the election he re-opened the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server usage? As for what happened in the Yates thread, I feel like government agents could have been censoring me. That or people thought I was off topic. I actually started a thread about it since I may have been derailing a topic, but then it got removed for being “inflammatory” whatever that means.
Conspiracy theories can anger some people, so they may be naturally inflammatory, but can we not discuss conspiracy theories here?

I guess you’re trying to offend me. Whatever. All I can say for sure is that VICE media is very progressive. We’re a left-wing forum, and if you think government agents don’t exist to police the internet I’ve got a bridge to sell you. We’re in a thread, talking about the most powerful law enforcement agency in the most heavily policed country on earth. The FBI is an agency that has notoriously suppressed left wing political speech.
Paid trolls are confirmed existing in other big, powerful nations. But I guess you think the U.S. doesn’t do this.
It’s reasonable to think they’d have an interest in controlling this conversation and ones like it. Try to be less rude and more informed about the government/agency you’re discussing before bashing someone for being skeptical about censorship.

of course high-profile Democrats (Pelosi, Schumer) have flipped their opinion of Comey since November. they hated him in November because the investigation into Hilary’s emails hurt her campaign, and theyre all about him now because they see the Russia investigation as this administration’s equivalent of the watergate tapes (which is naive since congress will never call for impeachment, but more on that later)
same goes for Trump. he was all about Comey in November, and against Comey now, for the same reasons. thats not “disinformation”, just predictable political hypocrisy: you love someone while they serve you, and hate them when they oppose you. i dont see how thats a revelation… not to say there isn’t corruption within the DNP, but theyre so inept it hardly matters.
the difference is, the FBI doesn’t have an ongoing investigation on Pelosi/Schumer for connections to a foreign nation (that we know of)… and they don’t hold the highest political office in this country (that we know of)… and Comey didn’t report directly to them and wasn’t capable of being fired by them (that we know of).
that, and Trump firing Comey is absolutely an impeachable offense. Trump fired the person responsible for initiating an investigation into Trump, FOR initiating an investigation into Trump, and not only did Trump’s team essentially admit this, he also threatened Comey about leaking information about their conversations. that is absolutely grounds for impeachment on the basis of obstruction of justice.
but I doubt itll happen before midterm elections in 2018. Ryan, McConnell, and other key Republicans are in Trump’s pocket now that they essentially control all three branches of government. i could be wrong, but even if i am, the line of succession is Pence, Ryan, and Hatch. still gonna be a rough four years.
