Games that you want to see Remade/Remastered!

While we’re at it, how about a remake of Power Stone? It wouldn’t even need much updating, just implement some online multi-player… Mmm yes.

  • Okami. The PS2/Wii versions were beautiful. The PS3 remaster was even more beautiful. Assuming a linear progression, a new remaster would be most beautifulest.

  • Jade Empire. Literally the first thing that I thought when Xbox backwards compatibility was announced for XB1 was “I’m going to play Jade Empire again!” KotOR 1 & 2 would also be acceptable.

  • Viewtiful Joe. This one just popped into my head. I guess because of Okami? I don’t really need to know why it popped into my head, but now I’m not going to be able to get it out.

  • Demon’s Souls

I know that the assumption in this hypothetical is that the remakes would be the best possible versions of the games, but I REALLY don’t trust From to remake Demon’s Souls properly. DS3 may be the best feeling game mechanically, but it is the worst design-wise, seeming to prioritize difficulty for its own sake over elegant design that rewards risks and exploration. And so I worry that they will remake Demon’s Souls with the “git gud” crowd in mind.

And honestly the only two things about Demon’s Souls that I would want tightened up are the tendency system and the removal of item burden. Everything else is ace IMO.

Absolutely disagree, I’d argue Dark Souls is the best playing game in the series next to Bloodborne, above Demon’s Souls–which I’ll admit is a bit rough as it was their first take on that gameplay and from what I understand their budget was quite limited–and Dark Souls 3 which didn’t grab me like the first Dark Souls, neither in combat, art design or world.

I don’t think Dark Souls 3 combat would work in Dark Souls, it would ruin that game, but I’d be okay with a graphical upgrade even though ultimately I don’t think it needs it, the PC version is crisp as it is.

I’d want to see a remake of the first three Splinter Cell games, those games had impressive tech at the time, but just imagining those games, as they are, with modern lighting tech and completely redone models and textures, is very exciting to me.
Chaos Theory is one of my top 5 games, and I think Conviction and Blacklist, despite looking good, were barely even Splinter Cell games.
There are games that’d kind of be ruined by remakes due to how often I see atmosphere being lost in the modern engine, like the original Metal Gear Solid, for example. Too often developers who do remakes lose the visual and atmospheric art of a game in service of adding modern effects and models.
I really hope that doesn’t happen with Shadow of the Colossus, the trailer is very promising though.

This would be great but they would really have to ramp it up with something like a strategic version of Shadow of Mordor’s nemesis system - a straight up remake would pale in the shadow of the great job CA have done with Total Warhammer.

NieR and Drakengard 1/3, now that we know what those games could be like with an actual budget and development team.

also yo the Square Enix producer for Nier Automata said there was a chance they would do a Nier remaster if Automata did well, and It seems like it did, so I hope that happens because I love the original Nier and want more people to be able to play it (and I’d replay ofc)

A proper remaster of Silent Hill 2; the first SH2 HD was incredibly underwhelming.

I’d rather get a sequel first, but one of the first things that came to mind was The World Ends With You. The iOS port of the game updated the graphics and made it look really good, but it did so at the cost of one of the core gameplay elements of the original DS game (having to pay attention to a different fight on each screen). I’d love to see a 3DS version that keeps the good graphics without hamstringing the gameplay (though I’d still rather get a sequel cmon square its been 9 years)

I think all of the pre-FF7 Final Fantasy games deserve remakes that give them full 3D, cinematic graphics, like the FF4 DS port (my first FF game!). And all the PSX-era Final Fantasy games deserve remasters too, while we’re at it.

All I really want is the first two Persons games remastered (or, specifically I want Persona and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment I can take or leave Innocent Sin).

I’ve never played them to completion because I’ve never owned a PS1 so I’ve only played parts on buggy emulators, and I’m so used to the voice acting in the newer Persona games that not having it feels hollow. Also like. The gameplay is ROUGH.

I’d also take a remaster/anthology edition of the Mass Effect trilogy that brought the first two games combat in line with Mass Effect 3. It would never happen but. A girl can dream.

I hope after Yakuza Kiwami comes out over here they can remake Yakuza 2. So that whole franchise can be played if you own a PS3 and PS4. Also Yakuza 2 is probably my favorite Yakuza story still.

Drakengard 1 and 3 should be completely remade. Everything besides the game is pretty great.

Wonderful 101 is my favorite Platinum game and I would love for that to be on Swtich.

Mass Effect: Andromeda.

(actual answers: Trickstyle, Power Stone, Rollcage 2, Ground Control 1)

Halo 3, Burnout 3: Takedown, Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, Metal Gear Solid, Snatcher, SMT: Nocturne, Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil, Shenmue 1+2, NieR, and Drakengard 1/3.

Most of those available in 1080p/60fps on PC/PS4 would be more exciting to me than the majority of upcoming new titles.

I really want to play Ace Combat 04, 5 & Zero on a modern console. Alpha Protocol would also be real nice so they can fix the beautiful mess.

Dragon Age: Origins.

No really, I’m serious.

Tony Hawk Collection.I’ll say, THPS 1-4 and THUG 1-2? Definitely an HD remaster and not a remake, which is what THPS HD was probably shooting for.

I will buy whatever console gets Killer7 HD.

I would like to see the following five games remade:

  1. Killer 7
  2. Killer 7
  3. Killer 7
  4. Killer 7
  5. Killer 7

I would also say Pathologic but that is actually happening.
