Games you've bought multiple times

Hm, I haven’t bought it multiple times but …

I did acquire Skyrim without purchasing to make sure it ran on my computer before buying it.

60 hours later I confirmed: yes, Skyrim DOES run on my computer.

I bought it when the GOTY (or whatever edition with all the DLC) was released, even thought I didn’t need to.

And a great side note: the pirated version’s saves had no difficulty playing after I downloaded the legit copy. I was surprised and pleased.

Dragon’s Dogma, which was a great PC port.
All of the Kingdom Hearts games, but Chain of Memories especially.
80 Days, loved it so much I wanted to have it on the go.
Deadly Premonition, had the 360 version and got it on PC for like $3, but then they released a collector’s edition with the soundtrack for PS3 so I got it on there, too.

I’m going to buy Final Fantasy XII again pretty soon.

Maybe I have a problem. Here are the game’s I’ve bought multiple times.

  1. Need For Speed III Hot Pursuit
  2. GTA Vice City
  3. Infamous
  4. Little Big Planet
  5. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
  6. Persona 4
  7. Persona 5
  8. Medal of Honor Frontline
  9. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3
  10. 80 Days
  11. Cave Story
  12. Spelunky
  13. Pixel Junk Eden
  14. Shadow of the Colossus
  15. Valkyria Chronicles
  16. Borderlands
  17. Red Dead Redemption
  18. Flower
  19. GTA Vice City Stories
  20. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2
  21. Risk of Rain

Here are the games I have multiple times as a result of PS+

  1. Fez
  2. Hotline Miami
  3. Resident Evil HD Remake
  4. Rocket League
  5. Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed
  6. Terraria
  7. Beyond Good and Evil
  8. Dirt 3
  9. GTA Liberty City Stories
  10. Little Big Planet 2
  11. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

Then there are the Playstation games that are crossbuy. I don’t think that counts since it’s pay once.

I think you might need to speak to someone

Deadly Premonition, Resident Evil 4, Space Channel 5 part 2, Bayonetta, Nuclear Throne, Spelunky, Dark Souls 1,2, and 3, honestly WAY TOO MANY GAMES. I went through a bad habit of buying stuff I owned on console on PC just for the sheer convenience of being able to play them any time.

Backed Shovel Knight, then bought it on 3DS when PoS hit, then bought it yet again on Switch for SoT, each subsequent time replaying the previous campaigns.

Worth it every time

I’ve bought several games multiple times, especially once I got a decent gaming PC, but I bought Metal Gear Solid 3 thrice (PS3, Vita, 3DS). The big ones for me are certain older games that I really like and like having on multiple platforms, like Outrun or some of the Wonder Boy games.

Oh dear, here we go:

Kingdom Hearts x 3
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories x 2
Kingdom Hearts II x 4
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep x 3

Dragon Quest VII x 2
Dragon Quest VIII x 4

Xenosaga I x 2
Xenosaga II x 2

Rayman 2 x 3
Rayman 3 x 2

Resident Evil 4 x 2

Rogue Galaxy x 2

Sly Cooper x 2

Fatal Frame/Project Zero x 2

Solatorobo x 2

KH2 and DQ8 are currently tied for most copies owned at 4 each, but I haven’t picked up the KH HD collections on PS4 yet, so all my KH games will be increased by one, and I’ll be able to add Dream Drop Distance to the list as well.

Shovel Knight is another basturt I’ve gone in many times -

I’ve bought Spelunky on Xbox 360, Steam, and Vita. If/When I buy a Switch, I would instantly buy it on there should it ever be ported over. I’ve joked that I would buy it on my phone if I could (knowing that it would be unplayable as a phone game).

Man, I should go play Spelunky.

Despite evidence to the contrary, I hate double dipping and most of the extra copies I have are either gifts, were part of cheap humble bundles, or were otherwise inexpensive. I think re-buying games that are still functional and you already own is stupid, and I’m a big advocate for backwards compatibility between generations. As such, the only time I’ll ever really double dip is for a PC version, because that will theoretically be the last version I ever have to buy of anything.

I have had three different copies of Skyrim (PS3 and Xbox360) and I’m planning on buying it for my PS4.

I’ve bought Resident Evil 4 on pretty much every system it’s been released for. GC, Wii, PS2, PS3, 360, PS4, and Steam. Wii version is still the best.

Nah the Wii version makes aiming too easy and that crosshair is hideous; it’s better when aiming is really finicky and you miss half your headshots and you’re anxious as hell because you wasted too many bullets.

Nnnggggggggg we had a wedding table named after Resi 4 because I love it so, and I was so exact as to say “it must be the Wii version!” Because it’s perfect!

more purposely obtusely difficult games 2k17

I’ve purchased every version of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay that has been released. Spans from OG Xbox, to PC, to upgraded PC, to the Dark Athena thing.

Diablo III. PC, 360, Xbox One.

I’ve gotten enough hours out of every version that I don’t really consider it a complete waste…Still a bit frivolous.

I finished it on PC once but it’s a game I keep thinking about playing again. If I had 3 days in a bubble I’d love to cane diablo 3

Honestly I sort of appreciate having the excuse to revisit RE4 rather than playing the newer games in my backlog.
I am a broken man, Mikami owns my soul.
