While Starcraft 2 is relatively new for this usage, it’s worth noting that impressive stuff was being done with Starcraft: Brood War even back in 2010, with an AI competition resulting in a bot that could take on higher tier players (though not quite pro level)
I think the time estimations are way too conservative, especially for Starcraft 2 which has fewer unit interactions which are super bizarre, because of the strange pathing algorithms and prioritization you had in brood war.
