Hitman 3 - World Travel Simulator

I figure we could use a thread for Hitman 3 discussion (drops 1/20), but I mostly wanted an excuse to share this GIF.

So, have they stated whether or not the Hitman 1 & 2 levels will transfer over from steam if you buy it on EPIC? I wanna probably replay from beginning to Hitman 3 with the new mechanics and optimization.

God, I wish VR wasn’t PSVR only.

Yes it sounds like it should all port over.

With that in mind, we are pleased to confirm that PC players will be able to carryover their current progression and unlocks from HITMAN 2 on Steam into HITMAN 3 on Epic Games Store. It will also be possible for PC players to import locations from the previous two games into HITMAN 3 on Epic Games Store. We want to make it a seamless process for our PC players to enjoy HITMAN 3 on a different PC platform and continue to enjoy the benefits of our World of Assassination.

I assume this is done using an IO account or something.

Ugh, that’s a bummer! If this was any other game I would probably just wait for the Steam release.

I think I’m gonna. Big Game Releases last year have all been… Shaky at best, so I’ll wait until it drops on Steam and is all patched up.

Honestly, this is a pretty strange move on Epic’s part. People already hate you for lame over the top reasons, but this is a legitimate grievance that’ll lose people.

This is Not Great! They should just do $20 level packs or something, if they absolutely positively must have more money.

Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but this seems like an Epic move. I wonder if the WB publishing rights have something to do with it too.

I assume that IO could do something like what Bungie did for platform migration if they considered this worth the engineering effort (and likely expense in paying for access to steam api’s to do it). So this is probably at its heart a business decision.

I’m getting the impression it’s a business problem, not a logistics one.

ā€œWe’ve done everything possible to make this process smooth and player-friendly,ā€ IO Interactive wrote in its pre-launch post today. ā€œHowever, due to various circumstances out of our control, we want to acknowledge that the process is different to our initial plans for PC players.ā€

I’m sure there’s a plenty good reason as to why IOI can’t just carry over game data from Steam to Epic…

But that said, as someone who isn’t privy to that information and was simply just excited to return to Hitman next week: this fucking sucks

Epic already let’s you link your Steam account I do not see how this is a problem. I would happily have an IOI account that ties my Steam and Epic accounts together. This just feels like a business issue :disappointed:

Was honestly excited but I think I might pass for now.

Does anyone know if the previous levels are backwards-compatible on PS5?

Yes I’ve been replaying the first two on my PS5 over the last couple weeks.

Sorry, I should clarify: can I import the levels from the first two games into Hitman 3 even though the first two are PS4?

Man, what is happening
