Hollywood's Most Famous Alien Was Never Scarier Than in 'Isolation'

As ‘Alien: Covenant’ explains more about these monsters’ origins, it’s left to video games to capture their frightening unpredictability.

I feel like this oversells Isolation’s alien. It wasn’t precisely predictable in what it would do at any given moment, but it also was entirely predictable in that it rubberbanded to you. After a while it didn’t feel particularly frightening, just stressful and a kind of arbitrary failstate.

Also not really sold on the equivalence asserted between “knowing more about the alien” and “knowing what the alien will do” (or “not knowing anything about the alien” and “not knowing how the alien will behave”).
