So since we’re talking about a desperate need for this THPS to be perfect nostalgia to distract from our broken world…
Yeah. It’s really good. It feels like a THPS game, which is the main thing. It’s also gorgeous and packed with stuff to do.
I appreciate all the queer color palettes and rainbow shirts in the character creator. :3
They actually start you off with a pixelated rainbow t-shirt unlocked!
I’m not as good as I used to be, and I think that ship has sailed, but this is very fun so far.
I dislike a lot of the aesthetic choices. I think the original games mostly look better than this. The lighting, the colours, it’s a bit too much. Very busy menus too.
Yeah! I put it on my custom character.
There’s a bunch of great wheel colors too.
This release will be the final nail for games people using “remake” and “remaster” correctly, and also therefore in my coffin.
oh boy… warning, this made me motion sick pretty fast
I’ve been seeing screenshots of the game posted to twitter, and holy hell, this thing looks amazing
hey why didn’t anyone tell me machine gun kelly’s rock music actually fuckin’ slaps
Being a bargain bin G-Eazy wasn’t working out for him so he pivoted to making millennium alt rock while everyone was coming to terms with the fact that Eminem is going to continue to make music.
His new shit whips.
This game has been such a relaxing, refreshing escape lately. I love the flow of exploring the map, picking goals for a run, and discovering the secrets. The feel is incredible!
The problem I have found is that the remaster is very good, but since it has been almost 20 years since I’ve played one of these, I suck trying to play it
I honestly think the best part of this remaster is the new tracks they added to the OST. Like c’mon. Screaming Females? PKEW PKEW PKEW? Tribe Called Quest? Just bangers all around.
I was talking about this feeling of sucking at the game with a friend over the weekend, and as a result I popped in my old Dreamcast copy of THPS 2 to see how my skills atrophied. Surprisingly I did pretty ok once I got into the rhythm of controls and timing. But I was doing my runs with a fully upgraded Bob Burnquist while I presume players of the remake are starting with scrub attributes. Don’t underestimate how much easier runs get when you’re leveled up!
Bombcast folks might recall Jeff mentioning this and it’s even more amazing than i thought:

Tony was secretly casting Disappearaga upon Bam Margera this whole time.
That’s some real Stalin with Nikolai Yezhov shit
I’m confused, why was Bam Margera Stalin’d?
Bam isnt in the game as a skater so my guess is they just didnt have his likeness rights. He wasn’t in the games till THPS 3 anyway, and I think this leaves the possibility open for a hilarious Bam Margera DLC Pack when they inevitably add the THPS 3 levels to this.
He’s also undergone some mid-2000s-ass publically aired/uncomfortably sensationalized personal issues that have likely made him a marketing pariah. Dude was on Dr Phil last year., though i dont recommend looking it up if you’re rightly uneasy about that whole awful relic of a media realm.
