It looks like NeoGAF is no more

I should note since you brought it up , that while we welcome new users to forum trying to find a new home that the witch hunts that would happen on GAF trying to figure out “the people responsible” for a game will not be tolerated here.

Long time listener of the Waypoint podcast, since the first episode. Just joining this forums now while using the same moniker from GAF and I have to say. Been a member/lurking of the forum for about almost 10 years. I am really at a lost as I had been visiting that site day and night of all this time literally, and just feeling really gutted and lost not having a home to go to.

Agreed, I had no idea about the 2012 thing… and I was on GAF daily.

2012 was still in the dark days in terms of people giving a shit about harassment, especially from “internet famous” people. I myself didn’t know about it until the thread was resurfaced on NeoGAF.

I agree. I’ve been on NeoGAF as a lurker since 2004/5 and a poster since 2009. I’m feeling a bit lost too; hopefully Waypoint can be a good home, temporary or otherwise!

Yeah, I mean
The more I think about it, the more it reminds me of the journalistic radio silence around GamerGate when the major harassment campaigns were

Not for nothing, NeoGAF taught me to wise up on forum posting etiquette as I was banned twice before creating my main account and it had me appreciate the community that I was in.

Welp. Here I am. Only been a part of GAF as a member for less than a year, but lurked since 2013. Definitely a shorter time than most, but it still felt like an internet home. Kinda lost. Hope this is a good place. If I can thank GAF for anything it’s that it taught me how to be more informed before responding.

I never got banned myself but it really did help me out a lot with forum posting etiquette.

Even beyond that, the community on NeoGAF was one of the major factors in helping me through my depression as well as helping me get out of a brief period I had as a “Nice Guy”. It helped solidify my thoughts on being a feminist, a humanist and shaped so many other facts of how I thought about life.

I never really made friends through the forums but I will miss the sense of place and community, if it has truly gone away. I hope the poster Finale Fireworker joins Waypoint too!

This is a good place, but no need to take it from me /LeVarBurton

Lurker there for a while, here and there I’ve read things about but never got deep into them because of the sources from where those things arrive (which I imagine will only get worse from now on).

Even as a mere lurker, had some issues with how things where handled sometimes (part of the course with forum culture I guess), still this is… awful, I was there everyday.

I’m gonna echo the other former gaffers sentiments. I check Gaf all the time, had a lot of laughs, learned a lot, saved money, and saw some awesome gifs. There are some old threads that I am disappointed I’ll never see again.

But if Evilore is guilty (seems that way) then moving on is the right thing to do. I was hoping he would pass Gaf along to someone else though.

This seems like a pretty open community though. I refuse to go to reddit. Anyway looking forward to spending time here.

Its hard to believe that gaf might be gone for good. I’ve been on that forums for 14 years. Everything comes to an end sooner or later.

I don’t post here that much, but hear hear. This place has been great.

Part of me is holding out hope that he passes it on to someone else, but maybe it is for the best that we all move on. I will miss the community’s inside jokes and memes. For as tired as it was, I’ll honestly miss that $30 italian meal pic lol

For what it’s worth the waypoint subreddit is very quiet and nice.

Yeah I’m a huge fan of running jokes. Green = sound is a classic. And SunniLegends gifs.

Well this sucks, 10 years ago Nsiders died and now Neogaf dies. If I stick around here, will this place die in 10 years?
