It’s Time for ‘Call of Duty’ To Retire the Death Quotes

I was deep inside the American Embassy in Urzikstan when I died. I turned a corner and saw my enemy approaching an unarmed woman. He killed her and I put a round through his head. I didn’t see his buddy on my left flank. Bang. As the lights dimmed an inspirational quote floated before my eyes. “I guess the only time most people think about injustice is when it happens to them,” it said, courtesy of Charles Bukowski.

Why stop at the quotes? Let’s retire the rest of these grotesque games.

It was at least one person’s jobs to collect all of these. Kinda feels like they just went to quotes.com or whatever and typed “injustice” into the search.

I thought they HAD retired the death quotes.

I was surprised when I saw them again in footage of Modern Warfare 2019.

https://www.wikiquote.org/ database is freely available, they do regular database backup dumps.

First link is an xml file composed of every single article so it’s easily parsable.

Willing to bet someone just spent a day or two writing a parser and then pulling quotes they thought were good.

fosters a grotesque normalisation of racist military violence and has an unsettingly opaque input from arms manufacturers. however, the gunfeel is good and there’s raytracing. 4 stars.

Good lord I never expected to see Ellie Weisel and Albert Einstein in the same sentence as Chris Kyle.

I do not know with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with awesome bonuses you can earn for you and your team after completing an epic kill streak
