METRO - Cyberpunk 2077 will have more Inclusive Character Options

I assumed it was because they’re hoping to at some point add the equivalent of GTAO and start making that kinda money.

The multiplayer is gonna have microtransactions (I’m pretty sure at least), so they are 100% doing this

Maybe, but I think there was an earnings call recently where it was stated that the DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 was going to be delayed, so I don’t expect multiplayer to even be a forethought atm.

I don’t understand what’s different about this photo mode from other ones. It seems to be functionally the same as Horizon’s, or Valhalla’s.

Love me a good photo mode. The more options and sliders the better, in my opinion. Tsushima’s is the gold-standard in my opinion and all games should copy it!

I don’t think I saw a single guy in that trailer… And I’m going to choose to read the worst into that and say the trailer was made entirely by and for very horny straight dudes. Nevermind how 1:38 is just a full on creeper shot.

Yeah, the marketing and all the stuff around Cyberpunk has made me reevaluate my relationship with The Witcher 3. I don’t know that things have always been this bad, but it does feel as though CDPR doubled-down on all the worst instincts they displayed in The Witcher 3. I feel like it’s very easy to blame the marketing for being gross, but the thing about the marketing is that everything they are showing off is in the game.

Lol, this is spot-on. It’s 1000% the energy on display. Like what if Skyrim modders were given a AAA budget.

Edit: Also, the way this game has gone makes me sad. I was looking forward to this game initially and I would still like to explore the environments they created, because I think Night City looks like an interesting space.

[Blackie62 continuing to yammer on with esoteric frustration about the missed opportunity of Hearst Castle, a monument to capitalism, that’s right there, only like 10 miles from where Night City is supposed to be.]

I don’t know why this game had to have any protagonist on the cover. Especially such a generic looking one lol.

The best thing that can come of this release is maybe getting people introduced to the genre that had never really looked at it before that will then go on to actually read up on it more and figure out that there’s a lot more to it than style over substance.

I am going to add Neuromancer to my reading list for sure

That place is wild! I went when I was a kid, and they had a robot cleaning the pool like a decade before that was normal. Real cyberpunk energy tbh

I think if anything this game will, if the writing is how I think it is, just associate Cyberpunk with WOW COOL FUTURE more than The Sprawl or When Gravity Fails.

We’ll see I guess.

If we’re making comparisons to lit then my worry is that this is going to be less Neuromancer and more Headcrash.

“Which pool?” I say more as a call out to how freakin’ ostentatious that place is. The the indoor pool room is even partially tiled in gold and the tour guides say “if any of that gold flakes off on your shoes, we can’t let you leave.”

It was the outdoor pool! I can still visualize the bright yellow drone scooting along the blue and white mosaic at the bottom of the pool with the columns and pediments looming above. I can close my eyes and see that dining hall with the massive table and high back chairs. iirc there was this huge embroidered banner above maybe the biggest fireplace I’ve ever seen. What a strange and singular place! It’s just so gaudy and opulent. I was too young to really understand what it all meant, but it definitely left an impression on me. It would be perfect for a Hitman level!

The Secret World kind of hits it best at the end of its first act where some tempting devil presents gifts that have been bestowed upon men of the past to lead up to the point that he can do you even better. It goes talent with a Renaissance painting, power with the Pharaohs, and wealth with that very outdoor pool and in the moment I was really impressed that they were able to nail that with a dead on example that was only 60 or so years old at the time.

Damn, when that game was good it was great. If only it was never an MMO.

Oh, neat, I never caught that reference before.

And, yeah, I really want that game to exist is a single-player RPG. The MMO aspects were always the weakest part.

Everything I hear about that game sounds amazing! I wish I had heard about it when it was alive!
