Huh, I was actually expecting something from BioWare. So I guess aside from the ESO and short Anthem bit at the EA presentation they aren’t showing at all? That sucks.

Sucks no XBox streaming on Nintendo. Some of those indie games for Game Pass looked like they would be cool on Switch.

Ah man! They bought Double Fine. :frowning:

Microsoft showing once again, that capital has an inherent tendency towards monopolization. At least they are open about it.

Getting Big Demon’s Souls vibes from the Elden Ring teaser, good to know even with GRRM involved From is 110% still on their bullshit.

For anyone interested in the new Xbox PC app, there’s an executable installer here:

As far as I can tell, you need to be in the insiders program to install.

I’m really excited about Gears, Dying Light 2, and Cyberpunk but I feel like for all 3 we should be well past showing cinematic trailers and should’ve devoted stage-time to actually showing gameplay. Like they’ve all gotta be damn near done and all we’re getting is 2-3 minutes of nice looking cutscenes, it’s disappointing. Likely we’ll see more footage from the show floor or whatever but still seems like a missed opportunity here.

As usual though, a lot of the games in that ID Xbox compilation looked really cool and I have to look more into them.

I’m already excited for Spiritfarer, a game that is so extremely my shit that I can’t even begin to express how excited I am to play it on Switch. You’re on a boat. You’re taking care of animal people. You’re exploring. You’re resource managing. Maybe I’d talk to my neighbors more if they were giant deer people, but they’re not so I play video games instead.

Aside from that, I’m interested in Elden Ring, which is going to be a interesting mesh of Miyazaki’s absolute unwillingness to put story anywhere else other than vague environmental placement and item descriptions, and G.R.R.M’s insistence on telling as much story as he can get away with before someone takes away his pen.

Did anyone else get a… you’re Charon ferrying people across the river styx vibe from Spiritfarer?

So what you’re saying is that the item descriptions are going to be eight paragraphs of food descriptions followed by a few sentences vaguely gesturing toward what the item does?

I like the deer game.

Indie games are fun. I want to play that pong game with a sword

The deer game, Ori 2, and Spiritfarer all look great! I did like how they gave so much time to indie games in between all the AAA gameplay-free cutscene trailers.

For anyone who can’t access it, or is still installing updates:

So the new interface is pretty sharp but bare-bones. The side bar is the games I have installed right now, but can be expanded to show titles.

I don’t know, already it at the very least seems less clunky than the epic launcher, so that’s something.

And the launch selection of games is pretty good!

One weird oversight though is there are a few first party games that don’t appear in the app store or in my collection (Forza Horizon 3 for example).

Oh it is absolutely something like that. 100% agreed. I think it’s going to tackle the subject of love and loss in a much lighter way than I’m used to seeing, which is what I’m excited for.

@EXWeis @augmentalize I think EXWeis hit the nail on the head. It would make sense, with the devs previous work involving mythology as well.

I’m super excited to take a swole deer across the death river on my houseboat!

Between being on-board for Forza Lego Time and a bunch of the indie stuff and the general continued improvement of Game Pass offerings, I think the thing I’m most excited for is:

MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR IS BACK, BAY-BEEEE. I spent so much of my youth nerding out over flight routes and about crafting a beautiful little world of Pacific Northwest bush flying in the olden times and I’ve missed having MSFS in my life.

TFW when you realize the world climate has drastically changed since the last Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The new Xbox store app is pretty nice and lightweight, the only thing is that I wish there was a dedicated manager page for all the games you’ve got installed (currently there’s only the one for games you’ve purchased).

Their initial selection for the PC game pass is also solid. Between this, Origin Access, and Discord Nitro, I think this is the strongest library subscription service on PC at the moment.

I cannot install the beta app despite having the most recent windows update.

Confused.
