Love how this movie really messes up your sense of time. Days turn into weeks quicker than you expect, so when the storm hits and Wake tells Winslow that they’ve been held up for weeks I really couldn’t say whether he was straight up lying. After all, Winslow’s point-of-view that we have followed certainly isn’t reliable, he frequently shifts into that dream-like state.
I do come down a bit on Rob’s side with it playing out its second half slightly too long, even if more or less all scenes are enjoyable on their own. Dafoe and Pattinson just work together so well.
Fun discussion and I agree with Patrick’s suggestion that The Banshees of Inisherin makes for a good companion flick to it, coming at sad lonely men from a different view.
