AWW YISS. Excellent work getting this set up and collating so much helpful info! Excited to get started!!
Ohhh, this was a great time to check out the Waypoint community. I’ve been wanting to experiment with a very particular art direction, so this might be a great excuse to do so.
@sandalinbohemia search away!
In fact, anyone feel free to discuss anything jam related, find team members, ask questions, ask for/give advice or whatever here.
I recommend posting a link to some samples of art if you can!
Same goes for anyone else wanting to team up, show off some previous work in your field if at all possible.
I’m very excited for this! Thanks for organizing it
Don’t forget that any games you make, whether for New Jam City or not, should be shared on the Share Games You Made thread. I’ve created an itch.io Collection called Waypoint Games to highlight everything people from the community have made.
First time jammers - don’t worry about perfection. Keep your game simple and aim to complete it. Something shipped is always better than something incomplete. Plus you can always expand on your game next time. A completed game can be iterated on, just like a completed draft of a novel can be edited.
Again, don’t feel like you have to rush through to complete something. This jam was designed with normal life in mind. I, for example, because of the kid can’t give up a couple of days to do a sprint. But I can find an hour here and there to make a game. So find what works for you.
Sweet, I’ll definitely try and work on something for this. I love community jams like this, thanks for hosting!
New Jam City begins July 1, but that doesn’t mean you have to. You can join and submit a game at any point during the jam. Of course you can begin planning the shenanigans you’re going to present to the Waypoint community right now.
The Unofficial Waypoint Game Jam aka New Jam City can be found on itch.io! And be sure to spread the word here on the forums or on social media with the #NewJamCity tag. Ignore all the music tweets.
Hello.
I don’t really follow Waypoint Radio. Is there an easy list of the titles? The link makes it difficult to find out.
Okay, thank you.
Or use the random episode picker I just made! http://randomwpr.futuretuesday.com/
Inspired by the Random Idle Thumbs episode picker used for the Wizard Jams.
I made a game in one of last year’s Wizard Jams. Almost got to participate in the one that just happened. I’m hoping I can make it work for this jam.
Can’t wait to get started on this! I’m nearly wrapped on the first playable version of a game I’m making with my partner, but it just so happens that she’s traveling for the next month. This will be perfect for me to tackle in the meantime. Excited to see what everyone cooks up!
Maybe someone can make a game where we get chicken dinner…
100 chefs enter, only one chicken dinner leaves…
Just to be clear, the game doesn’t necessarily have to be related to Waypoint, right? Just needs to have a title from one of the podcasts?
(Also, I would like to retract my earlier request for a team, because I have the ideas and means for creating a game on my own now!)

BTW I highly encourage everyone to make a thread over on the community jam page to document your progress. It really helps with motivation and people can give advice or feedback if you need it. Blogging isn’t for everyone but telling yourself you have to make some kind of regular progress report I find goes a long way with making sure you don’t just give up. Plus they make great little time capsules that you can look back on ![]()
Adding to what @Wazanator said. Also feel free to use the jam discussions for ideas, teaming up, or anything else.
Aaaah yo
I’m v down for this, but also awful at all things artistic, so if there are any artists willing to work with a first-time dev on a project, lemme know!
