I’ve never been involved in a forum before, but Austin’s words on the podcast this week really made me want to get involved. And with Shadowkeep just coming out, I’m looking to join a clan for Destiny. I’m excited to join a community I’ve heard so many wonderful things about!
I’ve been listening to the podcast and reading the site for a while but decided to finally take the plunge and join the Waypoint community after today’s episode! Other than games, my interests include art, music, culture, and fashion. Lately I’ve been playing Destiny 2 (haven’t decided if I want to take the plunge into Shadowfall yet) and Dragon’s Dogma. Looking forward to playing/chatting with you all!
My name’s David (he/him), I’m a stay-at-home dad, and I’ve been following Waypoint since the very beginning—but have never really dove too deep into the forums. Since the new Destiny expansion dropped, though, hoped to meet some nice folks to game with. I go by some variation of Yurmit on most platforms (I’m @theyurmit on Twitter).
hey hi everyone, i’m stevy (they/them), an enby mess from rural BC at the foot of a massive mountain. i’ve been following waypoint for a while and i’ve been wanting to get involved in the community finally. my twitter is completely inactive but i’m on the mastodon instance elekk over at elekk.xyz/@Stevarow
I’m Aidan (He/Him). Most of my life is filled up with full time game-dev down here in Australia. Outside of that I spend most of my free time cooking. I think a lot about this interview with Phil Fish I saw years ago where he was talking about why he loved DJing - he said that with game dev, it takes years to go from an idea, to building a game, and releasing, and seeing people actually interact and find joy in the thing you made. He talked about how having this massive build up and release was exhausting. But he loved DJing because it was the opposite of that. As he shifted the music, he got to see the response of the crowd almost instantly. It’s not quite as fast, but I think that’s what cooking is for me.
Been following Waypoint since the start. Came along from Giant Bomb when Austin left. Been browsing the forums for most of that time, but don’t really post much.
Hey folks, I don’t seem to have ever introduced myself here since joining back in 2017. Wild oversight on my part?
My name’s Payne, I’m 23 and I’ve been in Florida my whole life!! I go by Paynisher on the big websites folks use and I use they/them pronouns, though he/him is fine as well. I’m a longtime Waypoint fan and a longtime lurker of the forums and discord. With the new Destiny expansion I’m hoping to jump back into that, get more active on the forums and discord and maybe play some games with fellow Waypoint community members.
I joined this forum ages ago and I never introduced myself
Hiya. My name is Stef. I’m 29 year old queer Uni student from Melbourne, Australia. I use she/her pronouns.
I’ve been a fan of Waypoint since the beginning and listen to the pod’s on a regular basis. I mostly play Destiny, Rainbow Six Siege, and Overwatch. I’ve just downloaded the new Destiny expansion and would to like to play with any community members on console (if possible). Would also be cool to find people who play R6 since the people who play that game tend to be toxic.
i’m from australia and have been enjoying waypoints content for a few years now and am in desperate need of a healthy and welcoming gaming community to join, especially with Shadowkeep just coming out! (I’m also @Camdapor on twitter)
I also always play overwatch and FFXIV a bunch and I’m always happy for more people to play with - I look forward to seeing everyone around!
I’m from California and I’m an academic working on a Ph.D. in children’s literature/media studies with hopes of becoming a teacher (looking at both High School and University teaching as possibilities at the moment). You can find me on twitter at @SpareParts82 and playing games all over the place (my backlog is immense). I’m on here cause I’ve been a fan of Waypoint for awhile now and I’m starting to look for a larger group of folks to play with in my spare time–especially since I don’t really have a clan at the moment in Destiny…and would like a group to play with where I don’t have to worry about assholery or bigotry.
Also, kinda want a community to talk about games more with…and as far as they go, this has always seemed to be one of the best. Hope to talk more with you all soon.
Hey party people, I’m Mike, but I go by Almechazel in everything internet. Don’t know why, but I’ve been using that name since I was a wee one in the Nineties, so, there ya go. I’m an unfortunate soul whose come to learn his greatest skills involve retail management of a Troop of Nerds (for obvious reasons i’m not going to ACTUALLY say where I work. That’s dangerous), but it could be worse. I’ve been following most of the Waypoint crew since before Waypoint existed, but always got too distracted to ever make a forum account. Living where I do in he Adirondacks, I rely on Satellite Internet, so I have to control the urge to be online too much. But, well, I figure a god community I can talk to is worth it.
Hi all, I’m Pierzing (they/she) (twitter is also @pierzing)! I’ve been following Waypoint since the summer last year, and it’s been my favorite place to hang out on the internet ever since. I joined up a little while ago but never introduced myself. I always feel like there are smart and safe discussions happening in this space, and I love to be a part of it. I’m also starting to get into Destiny with all of the Shadowkeep buzz, so that is also a motivator in joining up to get in one of the Waypoint clans :>
Hello friends! I’ve been on the forums for a minute but I’m looking to get a bit more active in the community. I’m Aaron, he/him and I’m 26 years old. I’m an American who recently moved out to Dublin, Ireland earlier this year.
Hello all,
Long time reader/listener who lurks in the forums as I don’t have a ton of time to contribute to the discussion due to work and life.
I go by Locke, and I’m a video producer and animator in Canada.
Been a part of other forums such as Gamespot, Giant Bomb, and a handful of smaller communities. Followed Austin here, and voila.
Hi Waypoint! I’m Nat (he/him), 32, discovered Waypoint through Friends at the Table. Just jumped back into Destiny 2 and looking for people to do raids with; this seemed like a community that would be forgiving of someone who’s never tried them before.
Hello! I’m Rahnawyn, she/her, a 25 year old middle school teacher from the US. I play too many games and read too many books but at least it keeps me able to talk with my students about what they’re up to!
Hi, I’m John, I’ve been following Waypoint since day one, but the recent shakeup has made me want to get more involved in the community. I’m in Arizona with five kids, but am way younger and more leftist than that would suggest, lol. My wife isn’t into games much, but I play a lot with my kids (currently going through EDF 4.1 with my son and Gears 5 with my oldest daughter). On my own, I love horror games and card games especially, but kinda play just about anything. I love the conversations that this site has focused on and am hoping to find more of those in the community.
Hiii! I’m zari, alternatively jackll (pronounced jackal). I’ve been a big fan of Austin since Giant Bomb (and some of his writing before that, even!), and Kleptok since way back. Also Danielle from Idle Thumbs and Rob from GWJ??? I might be old.
I’m a Californian who works in game publishing and marketing, which can be hard to square with my radicalized-by-waypoint leftist beliefs, but I try to do the best I can. I play a ton of different single player games, and my multiplayer stuff is primarily FF14 and Destiny 2. I want to be in one of the Waypoint D2 clans!
Always happy to talk about games or the games business if anyone’s curious!
Hi there! I’m jacnorwood. I’m new to the games industry (professionally; I’ve been here for twenty years personally) which means I’m trying to play way more games than before.
I got started in gaming communities on the Game Informer forums, then GameSpot’s live shows, but sort of dropped off for a few years at the beginning of college. I’ve been a Waypoint fan for a couple of years now, and now I’m looking for folks to play games with and be a part of a community!
Lore Reasons lead me to play through THE ENTIRETY OF KINGDOM HEARTS (minus Union Cross), and I’m a recent newcomer to Destiny so I’m looking for clans to join and fireteams to run with.
Hi! I’m Éamonn (he/him). I’m a software engineer, late 20s, from Ireland but living in Scotland. Been a fan of the Waypoint podcast for a while now so thought I’d come see what’s happening here! Lately I’ve been playing the Link’s Awakening remake and The Witcher 3, in between taking part in an expedition on Elite Dangerous.
