Oy, introduce yourself!

Also from GAF. I didn’t post all that often after the The Wii U Speculation Threads were over (I was on some of the Hype Train pics!) but I did visit most days when real life would allow. Sad that to see it go but I hope I start posting more here.

Hello. From gaf as well but I’m also a big giantbomb fan so I’ve been following waypoints stuff for a while now. I decided to make an account after everything that’s been going on with the owner of neogaf that I’m sure most everyone knows about by now. I don’t want to say the site is dead but it doesn’t look good and I’ve heard nice things about the forums and I already like the content so hear I am.

Hi all,
another gaffer looking for a new place to call home. I’ve followed Giant Bomb for years and Waypoint from day one. With everything that’s going on I find that I value Austin’s propensity for speaking up about his political views more and more.

I’m here to talk about games, of course, but it’s nice to know that the guys at the top are decent human beings

With that out of the way I’m a 33 year old father of 2 lovely daughters (1yo and 2yo). Naturally I can’t game as much as I used to, but I get some time in and for the last couple of years that has mainly been spent on trying to clear out my backlog, which is currently down to about 45 games.

Believe it or not, Im also from GAF! I was part of it for over ten years, mostly like to talk about the art aspect of videogames since thats what I do for a living. You can find me on twitter @RagingSpaniard For instance I was running the yearly inktober threads on GAF and Im passionate about making fanart for games I like

I’ve heard great things about Waypoint and people here seem nice and respectful, which is something I definitely appreciate. I hope to be able to contribute to that as part of the forum

Came here also from Neogaf, although I haven’t been active there for a couple years due to how toxic both gaming side and the community side had become. I mostly lurked for new/announcements. Not unhappy to see the site die though.

My question as a new user here is whether or not there’s a settings option somewhere that I’m missing so that I can change the white background to black. The white is really hard on my eyes, which aren’t very good. Thanks.

Edit - I found preferences. Black background engaged!

Hi, everyone. Though I haven’t been a regular poster on NeoGAF for years (I go in-depth on that here), the implosion of the site did inspire me to give Waypoint a shot. I’ve never quite been able to find a home in terms of online discussion, and I enjoyed NeoGAF’s community while disliking the men behind the curtain – so I hope to enjoy the company of the good folks who have migrated over. Thanks for having us.

Hi,
I’m another GAF refugee (Different username, fresh start) looking for a new home. I hope to be more active on here in the future, as I was always primarily a lurker on NeoGAF, using it basically to learn of all major happenings in gaming and in the world at large.

I’m from Sweden, am 24 years old, and have a wide variety of interests, which I hope to tell you more about as time passes :’)

Pleased to meet all you seemingly wonderful people!

Hello everyone!

I’m Pehesse, and I too am part of the current GAF exodus. I’m an indie developer, and was mostly active in the indie dev thread and different art threads, though I also ocasionally participate in random topics when I feel my contribution is relevant.

I heard about this forum from my partner, mostly about its inclusivity and quality of discussion, so I’m looking forward to finding a new home among you all, for as for as much as I’ve loved parts of the gaf community over the years and its incredible trove of resources, I can’t possibly support it any longer under its current management.

I’m wondering about the possibility of “reviving” the indie thread community herei, and how it would mesh with the current rules about self promotion. I saw the Workshop and read about the terms of use there, but I’d like to know explicitely if a thread akin to how we proceeded on GAF would be accepted (ie: a singular place where all indie devs are welcome to post their progress and discuss their updates through text, screens and (sometimes very large) gifs and videos, problems they encounter and/or general resources and indie dev news), or is that too broad or anchored in self promotion to be tolerated here?

Either way, cheers, and looking forward to what’s next!

Bonsoir! I’m Sibylus, and yet another face in the Gaf diaspora. I guess the scandal was the last straw that pushed me to look for better (safer) waters, though in truth this scandal has been a long time coming.

I see some friends here already. My heart is lightened.

I am Jintor and I am another GAF refugee. I hope to find another community I can contribute to and be a part of that won’t just depress the shit out of me.

hey guess what? I was also on NeoGAF once, most notably as a ComicsGAF regular and sometimes shitposter in Games, when there was a good-ass Polemic to be dropped in the games discourse

anyway I’ve been following Waypoint for a while now, and reading the forum rules convinced me this would be a good place to settle and chat

see y’all out there

Guess, I’ll join in the GAF exodus pile.
My name is Veeboy, I mainly lurked around the gaming side forums and GAF’s LGBTQIA+ forum so I’m glad to find some place that seems fairly inviting. I hope to contribute to this community and I’m happy to be here!

(Thanks @sibylus above for pointing me here on the discord!)

This really seems like the most inviting place of the internet right now to old gaf members.
Let me introduce myself.
I was a GAF member since 2005, my username there was SpacePirate Ridley, but know I use everywhere the shorter version of SPRidley. That forum actually helped me find my first job in the industry when we started drawing scribblenaut avatars during that game’s hype E3. I was also part of the tight indie dev community, and other communities, like the theme parks one, or my own OT about Planet Coaster. The community was the biggest thing about those forums.

Found waypoint today thanks to Pehesse (and I subscribe if its possible to have here a indie dev thread were we can talk about our stuff in good company). I also see Jintor here, so thats good.
Going to keep up her for a while and see how this goes.

Hi I’m Bya, a simple man who loves games (RPGs mostly), energy drinks, bread and candy. Nice to meet y’all. :eyes:

Sup guys. I was never a member of GAF since I had no access to any sort of paid mail - however, I have been a lurker since about '09/'10 so I always felt like a part of it. Hopefully many people will find their way into this place and we can build something better!

I’m here from GAF. An article about the sexual assault allegations brought me here. I relied on GAF for my news (gaming and otherwise). I never really posted but maybe this will change now that I’m here. Glad I found this place.

Hi Everyone!

I’m Darcadia from Central Massachusetts! I have a full time job, 2 daughters, but still have time to feed my gaming addiction!

It’s great to be here!! I’ve heard great things about this board. Look forward to contributing!

Hello yall!

You guessed it, former GAFer looking for a new home. I’m a 30 year old CIS white male working as a barista and ride share driver living in Western Mass. Video games make up more of my identity than is healthy for sure, but when you cant afford therapy, escapism is a nice back up.

I dont know why I never checked these forums out. Been following Idle Thumbs and Giant Bomb for years, and Waypoint since its inception. Especially with how toxic some of GAF was, this place looks like a welcome oasis of really awesome, well intended people with respect for others. I really hope theres no crummy shock waves from GAF here.
