Oy, introduce yourself!

Hey! I’m Insidious, and I’m a 27 year old HRIS Specialist with a degree in Game Design. I can usually be found running around the Destiny universe where I’ve spent an almost embarrassing amount of time raiding and slaying in Crucible. I also play a ton of Overwatch (PC and PS4) and am working with a team to start up an amateur tournament that will hopefully start in June.

I’m really looking forward to jumping into the community here as I am a big fan of so many of the staff at Waypoint and I know that this is going to be an awesome experience.

Hey everyone. I’m Rob. I’m an editor/senior community manager for First Person Scholar. I do games research and instructional design work, too. Mostly I research (and occasionally develop) roguelikes and interactive fiction.

Oh, I live in Canada.

Oh, I am delighted at the prospect, believe me.

Hey pals! I’m ironcladfolly and/or Mike. 31 year old dude (he/him) from Edmonton, Alberta. English major with a mundane grown-up job, who does freelance writing and illustration on the side. (Hi, hello, feel free to look at my arts for sale here.) Into video games, pro wrestling, craft cocktails, and horror films.

I was introduced to Waypoint when it launched by some friends in the industry, and it’s become my go-to fix for the kind of intelligent, insightful games commentary I really wish we had more of. Heck, I had written a few pieces similar in tone for a local publication until said publication collapsed under the weight of a dying print media industry. I’m really hoping to see this community grow into a crowd of good people who want to get genuinely excited about games and things we care about together. Let’s do that please!

I’ve already been posting but hi everyone! I’m Dat Goofer or Joaquin, I’m a queer woman from Utah who’s too busy with school. I play so much different stuff and listen to a ton of music. I haven’t really participated in forums before I’m stoked to be talking more to all of ya’ll.

Dear Waypoint Forum,

I’m Kim. I run an esports news and entertainment site called Esports Source. I’m a journalist by trade (formerly of CNN and CNN International) and working in games journalism has been pretty weird, pretty fun, and pretty hard all at the same time. I recommend it.

Anyway, you should be friends with me because I talk about stuff other than esports like uh… other…games? Also anime. And music. And sports. And cats. And fashion. And fashionable sporty anime musical cat games.

Love,

Kim

Hi All!

My name is Will, I’m 28, heavily tattooed, live in Chicago, and also followed Austin from GB and Danielle from Idle Weekend.

I’m the founder and EIC of No Coast Gaming where we write and talk about games and host a weekly podcast. Waypoint was a huge inspiration for us when we started off 5 months ago! I solemnly swear to not shamelessly self promote on these forums.

Much love from Chicago!

Hello folks. I’m Scott, a writer/journalist that does a lot of freelance stuff on the side - photography, coding, podcast production and documentaries mostly. Currently living in western Canada. I have a crippling board game addiction, strong opinions on camping gear and a penchant for terrifying encounters with wild animals.

Learned about Waypoint from some friends. Haven’t been much of a forum user in the past, but think this place seems like a pretty nice fit.

I’m DHIATENSOR. I like anonymity online because I’m a dog. Followed Austin and Patrick since GB so was really happy to see them end up together and also knew Danielle and Rob from Idle Thumbs Weekend. I’ve been playing games more or less as long as I’ve been alive and have seen it go from a few pixels on a black and green CRT to the absurd gorgeousness of something like Horizon.

I think it’s this incredible growth that interests me so much. We’re lucky enough to live through this period, synonymous with watching cinema develop from 1910-1940 - going from little more than silent recordings of stage shows to glossy technicolour epics. It feels like we still haven’t even scratched the surface if what interactive media can be and I’m glad to have sites like this and dudes like Austin in particular, to help examine this process.

Generally I love systemic games, whether this is Spelunky or MGSV and am completely terrible at 2D fighters and any genre that includes the words “tactical” or “strategy”.

Call me Dan. I’m an epidemiologist that likes science fiction, magical realism, Spelunky and animated movies/TV. I started following Waypoint because Danielle is my hero. Yes, I am totally a human and not a computer simulating the life of a long-deceased human known as Dan in the historical archives of the present.

Hello!
I’m also over at Giant Bomb and followed Austin here to find a whole new group of awesome people that I enjoy. Love the podcast and the thoughtful (and funny) discussions that come up. My favorite part is when everyone goes off rails, like with GB content.

I buy a lot of anime games… I don’t always play them, but I do buy them, sometimes for multiple consoles. I enjoy Spelunky, fighting games, ASCII roguelikes, and learning to program. I wish I had more time to play Final Fantasy XIV.

I live in Florida but I am not from here, so you can’t blame me for the Florida Man headlines (but just you wait).

I’ve worked in fitness centers for years and I’m still about 80 lbs overweight. Sigh.

I am a Doobh. Some of you may recognize me, namely those from the PA forums or a few different Vinesauce streams. Cliff notes for the rest of ya: I’m a trans woman, an anarchist, autistic, and generally tired as hell these days.

Also I have ferrets.

Howdy folks.
I’m @Queensberry_boi on Twitter (though I mostly lurk and RT there). My real name is Fergus and I’m from Vancouver, BC. I’m a history student, about to begin a graduate degree in Victorian history. Basically I followed Austin over from Giant Bomb, and tune into WP radio regularly because of how much I grew to like his analysis of videogames (doesn’t hurt that he seems to be one of the only ‘mainstream’ game critics referencing Benjamin, Adorno, and Foucault in his writing ).
