Five years after being released, The Sims 4 is getting a massive price cut: down from its regular price of $39.99, to the low, low price of free. Publisher Electronic Arts is offering up the base game for free on PC and Mac through its Origin platform until May 28. And the game isn’t a trial version. Players will be able to continue to play The Sims 4 forever as long as they grab it before May 28.

Done. Terrified to actually boot it up lest I fall into a Sims hole and emerge weeks later having failed my exams and burned the last of my student loans on expansions.
The Sims does things to my brain that basically no other series does.

Looking forward to building myself a nice ideal home, decorating it with nice tapestry, complimentary rugs and furniture, and tune out as I need to start playing the game part.
I’ve spent so many hours in Sims 2 and 3 doing exactly this and have had a good time, I just never end up having those interesting systemic character stories because of it.
