Steam summer sale 2017

#1

Who ready to empty your wallet?
List out what games you got.

#2

do they still do the thing where some games get put on even more of a sale on certain days, or is it safe to buy games that on sale already

#3

Pretty sure they stopped doing that a few sales ago.

#4

Aye, everything’s on sale at once, the interactivity is limited to whatever weird idea they have each sale, like this year some sort of sticker thing. I don’t know, it won’t load for me.

I’ve got nothing immediately jumping out at me as a must-buy, since I keep on stop of releases generally. Might end up getting Hitman and The Surge since the latter has a small sale on and Hitman’s still running the sale from before.

Edit: Or I could just Fuck The System and buy Yuri on Ice, Kemono Friends and Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and indulge in Brilliant Gay Anime Shit for like a week. That sounds good.

#5

Currently eyeing Shadow of Mordor. $3.99? Yes, please.

#7

Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor is $2, it’s a cute 3D pixel game about burning trash and late capitalism.

#8

I went over my budget by a teeny bit, but:

  • Planet Coaster
  • Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure
  • Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall

I was hoping to get more small games, but I’ll have to save those for the winter sale.

#9

Cosmic DJ is sixty cents and is a game about creating beats using various instruments on a virtual midi board in order to solve the problems of the galaxy and after each adventure the game then remixes the tracks you just made into one song during which you get to play with a KID PIX like editor to create the cover art for it.

Example track I made

It has a separate mode just for making one off tracks which makes for a really good Discord/forum game because it takes about 10-15 minutes to make a 40 second track and post it along with some really poorly drawn cover art.

#10

Transistor is only £2 and I strongly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet

#11

Friend won a Rift and is selling it to me at a very deep discount so if anyone has any VR games they would recommend that don’t rely on the motion controllers (will be buying those in the future) let me know!

#12

Grabbed Wolfenstein: The New Order, Neo Scavenger, and all of the Harebrained Schemes Shadowrun stuff I didn’t already own. Good stuff, good stuff.

#13

“Woops”

#14
  • Wizorb
  • Metal Gear Rising
  • Hollow Knight
  • That Dragon, Cancer
  • VA-11 HALL-A
  • 6180 the moon
  • Dead Cells
    More to come.

Hm… Lots of games on my wishlist is on sale. I really don’t have the money to get even much of the things I want, although maybe I’ll end up getting something? I don’t know… Either way, a bunch of games on the list that I’m interested in:

List of games

http://store.steampowered.com/app/211340
I’ve heard some good things about this game. I’m not really sure if this game is quite right for me though. It’s a game I rather would like to like, however, since it does seem to delve into things I like.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/214590/Fairy_Bloom_Freesia/
This game looks pretty. …No, I don’t really have any other reason.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/102500
I really like character customization systems and this one’s looks rather interesting. I’m less interested in the gameplay or lore or story of this game, however.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/300570
Simply a big fan of their other games with their interesting take of puzzle solving. This appears to be their most polished game yet.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/312780
The first two games were really interesting in having highly branching non-linear storytelling. The games achieved this basically by making the story short, although very replayable. I haven’t played other games in the series and have been looking forward to doing so, although I’m not really too sure about 3D games on my system or eyes.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/348470
I rather enjoyed the first game and the first 3DS games, which are the only games in the series I’ve played so far. The main thing I’m worried about is going into 4-II before playing 2 or 3.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/316790
Because everybody appears to really like this game.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/323470
Some people seem to rave about this game? Admittedly, I don’t really know too much otherwise.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/384630
I like Ace Attorney and apparently this is similar.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/378830
To be honest, most of my interest is due to the female protagonist, which is way more rare than it should be. Story sounds alright and its inspirations seems good.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/377710
Another female protag game, and well, I like magical girl anime? That’s pretty much the only reason it’s on my wishlist. The trailer they have isn’t too encouraging, although at least the cat is cute?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/449250/A_Little_Lily_Princess/
Yet another game I put on my wishlist solely due to having a female protag. Is it any good? I have no clue.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/454410
By Gamefreak, the makers of Pokémon, is sorta the only reason I’m interested in this. Well, it doesn’t look too bad.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/486690
A neat-looking RPG that’s unfortunately only in Chinese right now, a language I can’t read. Still, maybe sometime in the future?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/555630/A_Magical_High_School_Girl/
I think I mostly just put this on my wishlist based on the title, but it actually looks kinda interesting?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/559210/Rakuen/
It looks kinda like To The Moon which I rather liked.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/408640
I’ve heard rather mixed things about this game, which makes me rather curious.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/239800/Bleed/
Because I really like Mega Man game and this looks like a really interesting Mega Man-inspired game.

Edit: The details thing doesn’t seem to be working? It works in the preview…

#16

thank ya for the recs!

#17

I paid €5.24 for the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided season pass. As it turns out: buying the whole Deus Ex bundle (of which I own everything apart from said season pass), was cheaper than just buying the season pass on its own. So, perhaps check bundles to save a few more coins?

By the way, the checkout page tends to get stuck on “working”. It takes a while for Steam to process purchases, even during off-hours such as around the time I’m posting this.

#18

Seconding the bundles. I scored Civilization 6 for $26/$27 (rather than the $35 it’s selling for on its own) through the XCOM 2/Civ 6 bundle. I already had XCOM 2, so I was just paying for one game in the bundle (which itself had a discount).

#19

There is nothing more terrifying, as a guy who’ll get straight MURDERED for spending on a Steam sale, than seeing pretty much your whole isthereanydeal.com waitlist lit green (ie “this meets your set parameters for what to wait for deals to hit” which in my case is 33%+ discounts).

Like, seriously, look at this:

#20

yeah I just checked my steam wishlist and it was like 'yeah basically everything is on sale’
luckily that’s still only like ten things lmao I don’t have an extensive wishlist, but still

My thoughts on the games I got

  • Wizorb - Fun block braking game with abilites
  • Metal Gear Rising - Best action game ever made!
  • Hollow Knight - Metrodvania style game that is more hack and slash
  • That Dragon, Cancer - ;_;
  • VA-11 HALL-A - A bizarre bar tending sim
  • 6180 the moon - Puzzle game base on gravity
  • Dead Cells - Super cool roguelite
