Apparently if you jumped very carefully you could just barely skim the bottom of the coin so you didn’t need the POW block again.
I finally threw up my hands and wrapped it in spikes with a one way door at the bottom.

that is unfortunate. Must be a pain in the ass to test that
The “good” part of it is I’ve rebuilt and tested it so many times I can breeze right through it now.
BW8 1GJ HJG
Standard, Speedrun I guess (there’s optional stuff)
SMB
Underground
Just a sort of quick moving level with some warp pipes and blind drops, nothing too fancy/technical, just wanted to try out the tools this time around.

Title: Four Tombs, Four treasures
SMW
Easy-medium difficulty
Four optional dungeons to help you along your way.
This level kept me up 90 minutes past my bedtime because I just kept finding more little bullshit mistakes and messes to clean up before uploading.
Had lots of fun with blinking blocks and cat mario powers. hope people enjoy! (i’d say it’s probably expert level difficult but i don’t have data yet)
what do you mean?
When I wrote that I had just died and come back to the first checkpoint. I didn’t realize I had already used the red coins as a key, and assumed the red coin key was for the door above. So I was thinking it was very cruel to make me go back through the level and get the red coins. Now I realize what’s going on. I just got to the part where you smack the bill to break all the bricks, and then a thomp killed me. Done for now
ah yeah i sectioned off the level specifically so the red coin collecting is separated from the key collecting by a check point and a ceiling. so if you got all the red coins and got through the warp cube and hit the checkpoint yer good.
Yeah makes sense now, I just didn’t realize the warp block was even locked. It was good SM3DW practice.
I’ve made three levels so far:
Carmelo’s Trenchmoat - J89-7VH-HJF
A really short but challenging cannonballs & spikes level
SMB1
Theme: Forest
Labels: Short & Sweet / Standard
The two trials of Ringtail - 90W-C1X-M2G
A longer two-challenge level based around floating with your racoon tail
SMB3
Theme: Sky
Labels: Themed / Standard
Botanophobia - 9V0-1N9-R2G
Another longer level with lots of piranha plants.
SMB1
Theme: Snow
Labels: Themed / Standard
Playing around with Mario Maker 2 has been really fun, although I’m struggling with balancing difficulty on my levels. I find I’m definitely leaning toward the challenging, precision and timing-based side of things, and the few people that have played them tend to give up pretty early. I’ve enjoyed making them though.
I really enjoyed this level! My favorite part was walking in and looking at all of the stuff I was going to have to go through on my way out.
I played more of the levels from the thread! And I moved my setup so that I should have better audio! And then my hayfever slowly got worse over the course of the video so you can hear me slowly die over the course of an hour.
I think it’s still a good video though? I had a lot of fun with the stages in it. ![]()
Also I was not joking about with that timer at the end of the last level, I legit was not paying attention and almost failed lol
Stages listed below as always ![]()
Hey thanks for playing! Sorry that last one gave you such trouble, glad you got through it in the end. As fun as it was to make I’m enjoying making more relaxed levels that hopefully aren’t as punishing.
I’m working on a new level right now that’s a much more chill themed level. Hope to post that here in a day or two when I can get back to finishing it up.
Don’t be sorry, as difficult as it was I enjoyed it a lot!
Thank you for playing my level! It was really fascinating to watch because you had a totally different expectation of what you were supposed to be doing to finish the level than I had been thinking about (namely, you were doing the spin bounce thing off of Thwomps). I honestly think it made the level harder for you than if you had just gone under the dang Thwomps!! It was a helpful thing to see and I will remember that in the future.
I found this level yesterday and though it’s incredibly hard, it’s also really well made:
ID: P12-LSV-XYF
Title: Run for your life!
Labels: Speedrun, Themed
Style: SMB3
Theme: Airship
Basically you’re constantly running away from giant cannonballs while also having to jump over spikes and all that stuff. I haven’t beaten it, but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s mostly about building up muscle memory for each section.
