Localization is a really under appreciated art.

There’s an excellent Wired interview with the localization director for Earthbound talking about some of the cultural obstacles that popped up trying to translate the game for American audiences:

This is a lovely little translation joke and I’d love to see what it was polished from originally. Hearing these explained and laid out never gets old for me (it’s one of the reasons why I love Legends of Localisation).
