When Austin brought it up on Waypoint Radio this week, it occurred to me that a lot of people don’t know about the branch of the Works Progress Administration dedicated providing relief for streaming and interactive content creators. There are so many stories from that time about to pass from living memory. Who today has heard of Orson Welles’ debut as a game director, The Charging Cradle Will Rock? Used a podcasting studio built out of pine slats and tanned hides by the CCC? Followed the endless congressional hearings on walking sims? So let’s work together here to crowd-source a people’s history of the Federal New Media Project (1935-43)!
