Generally speaking, either pizza or tacos.

If we narrow down to a single specific thing: My mom’s chicken and noodles.

30 years old and I still haven’t found anything on love as much as I do that specific thing.

If I could be really general, it’d be ramen. Not like from a package, but good restaurant or even homemade ramen. So much can go into a bowl, it’s super filling, but it’s also not terribly healthy so I’d probably not last very long. Still, it’d be great. If I had to be specific, I’d go with spicy miso ramen. From Karashibi Kikanbo in Kanda in Tokyo if it could be anywhere in the world. Probably my favorite place I’ve ever eaten.

somebody already said it but steak, its the only meal i can think of that can be served many different ways and still taste good. no specificies and enough diversity in taste to make it last a lifetime

Okay, so Imma overthink this question and approach this question not like “what is my favourite food” but “what could I stomach 3000 days in?”. Mostly that means you need something that affords variety. French Toast is my favourite food, but I think I would rather taste the sweet embrace of death than have it for every meal for the rest of my life.

So the two obvious ones are burritos and pizza. Burritos really don’t have a concrete necessary ingredient beyond the tortilla (read: you can have a vegetarian burrito or an all-meat burrito and they’re both still a burrito), but there are only so many things you can put in it for it to be appetizing.

Pizza has the opposite problem. Anything can go on a pizza pretty much, but its strict adherence to the crust, sauce, and cheese trio (tho obviously with variation) can get old after only a few days of sustaining on it (trust me on this one).

So I have a third, blander, but overall better in the long term option: Soup.

Soup has a nearly endless variety in stocks that changes the thickness, mouth feel, taste, and overall experience of eating it. Any single vegetable, grain, or meat can be used in it and it can match any of the flavour profiles you want or are in the mood for. Plus, it is an international food due to its simplicity, meaning there are varieties from all parts of the world that have been tested and loved for generations (as opposed to trying to somehow make a burrito that fits the definition of “Italian food” or “japanese food”).

If I’m going to die of a coronary soon, then tonkotsu ramen with the ichiran chilli powder innit.

If I’m going to die of a coronary a little later, then a burrito with carnitas, rice, black beans, poco de gallo, sour cream, cheese, spicy salsa and a side of cholula hot sauce.

The former I can only get in Japan. Thankfully there’s a place in Edinburgh that does the latter.

I’d choose a sandwich, since then I can eat burgers, pizza, and poptarts whenevs.

Yup. What clued you in? The overthinking simple questions, the experience of only eating pizza for days at a time, or the longing for death?

assuming it has to be a food i could cook, penne alla vodka hands down.

I’ve been thinking about this for the last couple days. I think I have to go with Seattle-style teriyaki with pork hum bao.

Sure it’s a meat-and-carb fever dream but I only eat one meal for the rest of my life, why do I gaf?
