Thor Ragnarok: Anyone Excited?

A year without superhero movies would be nice.

You are dreaming, they are hugely profitable. Just take a year long break from them.

I really love his characterization of Thor. It’s like he took the small moments from Avengers and the other Thor movies where Thor was acting like a weird goof and multiplied it.

I’ve high hopes that this will be the first not bad Thor movie.

I used to smoke superhero movies until Hollywood caught me out back one night, burning through an Iron Man 2.

“Where did you get those?!” they demanded.

I spat and said, “fuck you dad, im 15, I can smoke them if I want to.”

Stunned, Hollywood grabbed me by the arm and dragged me inside. “Fine, if you want to smoke them, fine. Sit down and you can enjoy an entire pack of them. Show me how much you like them.” They slapped the entire Flashpoint arc on the table. “Go on then, big buy. Smoke them.” I didn’t know what they were trying to prove, but I grabbed a Man of Steel and lit up.

By the time I finished it, I had collectively smoked 6 hours of superhero movies that night. I’d had way more than enough, but I wasn’t about to let Hollywood win. Staring them in the eyes, I pulled out a Batman V Superman and placed it in my chapped lips. As I brought the flame to my face, I was struck by a coughing fit, sending BvS tumbling onto the table. I grabbed for it and put it back, lighting up.

Hollywood leaned back and crossed their arms. “Sure you haven’t had enough?”

“…No.”

They pursed their lips. “Fine. Don’t forget the after-credits.”

I was puking by the time Ultron kicked Cap off a semi.

I know. Just sick of hearing about them.

After seeing the trailer this is the first Marvel movie I’m excited to see since… age of ultron ( and that was a bit disappointing to say the least). I still had my doubts if I was going to see it in theaters, but my carrier offered me 2 tickets for the price of 1 in IMAX, so I’ll probably go with a friend.

This is my most looked-forward-to movie of the year (except, Star Wars, I guess). I’ve been on board since the first teaser, let’s gooooo!

Anyone here have Impressions from the red carpet?

It’s the movie I’m looking forward too the most for the rest of the year. A few clips on line really sold me on it.

Oh my god oh my god

I’m going to watch because it’s a MCU movie but excited. I’ll keep my expectations low. The last MCU I enjoyed was Civil War

The previews look fun. I like meathead Thor, and Goldblum looks like he’s playing some kind eccentric space dude and that sounds cool.

I’m kind of tired of super hero movies in general but at the same time I keep going to see them. I guess they’re like comfort food for me, I know what to expect each time and they aren’t something serious I need to be in the mood for.

I’ve been excited ever since I heard what it was. I’m so pumped for this movie, guys!

Very much looking forward to it! Talked with a work colleague about going to see it one night toward the end of November. Should be a hoot!

Edit: Also, we’ve had all of our kids watching the Marvel movies one at a time. Still got a few to go (ready on DVR) but for kids, they’re fun light entertainment. :face_with_monocle:

Looks a bit too Guardians of the Galaxy for my tastes. I’m sure I’ll see it at some point and enjoy it, but I doubt I’ll bother seeing it in the theaters.

Which is not to say I’m burned out on comic book movies: I loved SM:H, and will probably see Black Panther on the big screen. Just the zany neon aliens 80s vibe doesn’t do it for me. The first Guardians was a fun diversion, but the second already felt tired to me.

I expected that my wife would hate the second GotG volume but she ended up liking it more than the first. Really peculiar! But I liked them both equally.

I’m looking forward to Thor, I just hope the movie isn’t to overly lighthearted and jokey. The serious moments in the film should be taken serious.

Very much looking forward to Ragnarok, but I’m a big Marvel head. I’m sure it will, at the very least, be a lot of fun, which is all I’m asking for from these movies. I have high hopes for the Banner/Thor ineractions.

Not sure who’s more excited for this: me or my nine-year old Hulk-loving son.
