Say you are thrown into an arena with two other strangers and are told to fight to the death. There is a table with three weapons: one box cutter, one belt, and one wiffle ball bat (no one is wearing a belt). You are each told you will be allowed to select a single weapon, one at a time. You get to select your weapon first. Which do you grab and why? What strategies do you employ?
The belt. In the land of the belt-less, the belted man is king.
The boxcutter, because I’m often already wearing a belt and I’m always carrying a wiffle ball bat.
Depends on how loose-fitting my pants are.
I mean, my complete inability to fight means that I’m dead regardless, but I feel like the box cutter’ll suffer the least from being wielded by someone with all the upper body strength of a rock 'em sock 'em robot.
Box cutter
I spent enough time in retail a) Not wearing a belt because I had pants that were exactly my waist size and I never tucked in that awful polo and b) slicing many a box. Which I believe qualifies me to fight in the name of the holy knife.
Boxcutter.
Even with someone not fighting back at all, it’s going to take a LONG time to murder someone with a wiffle bat or a belt. Even strangling someone with a belt will take a while.
I’m taking the belt and be it only because I don’t want to drop my pants while I’m getting beaten up. Losing terribly is already humiliating enough I think.
Gimme the box cutter. While everyone else is concerned about the status of their pants, I’ll win this fight dammit.
The belt. Here’s my reasoning:
-
I’m not going to kill another human being just because someone dropped me in an arena and told me to do so
-
I am probably going to have to restrain that guy with the box cutter though. Fortunately, belts can be effective restraints.
-
I don’t have to worry too much about the person wielding the bat that’s marketed as “lightweight and super safe!”
None.
I fight with my Words, which is what I call my fists.
Hey all,
While no rules are being broken here, the mods feel like the conversation here is bordering on some stuff we’re not comfortable with (how to do violence efficiently, basically, even in jest, could make some people uncomfortable), and could take a further turn quickly. As such we’ve locked this thread.
