We’re getting the relationship between video games and people all wrong

I came across this piece from The Outline and thought folks may enjoy it in light of this week’s focus on Waypoint. The piece is an interview with Alfie Bown, the editor of The Hong Kong Review of Books and author of The Playstation Dreamworld. I don’t think there is anything else I can add to set it up. I hope you enjoy!

This concept of dreams is based on the idea that dreams are not your own dreams that belong to you personally or naturally — or have anything to do with your inherent self. Dreams are not controlled from inside yourself but they are created by cultural and political forces. But when you have a dream you experience it as if it’s your own thing.

This is a great example of when tabooing your words comes in handy. The interview seems to slide between multiple uses of dream.
