Is epee as an event more popular than the rest? I feel like all the fencing I’ve ever seen in pop culture tends to be epee based off the description.
This sounds pretty par for the course on buzzfeeds sourcing or lack of it.
I knew y’all wouldn’t let me down

I used to be pretty well known in fingerboarding circles in my city. Placed 2nd in one tournament, 3rd in another, was a finalist in my last one. Never got that gold though…

At the time of my initial surgery I was the youngest person in Russia to have an artificial cardiac pacemaker installed. At least that’s what I’ve been told? Don’t really have any way of verifying that.
My uncle is the Björn of BabyBjörn.
In a similar vein to this, my car was in the background of a DJ Khaled Instagram video. It was a few years a go and I planned to do the work to dig it up, but Instagram seems to be down at the moment so I’ll update later.
I wrote a Final Fantasy VII walkthrough when I was 17 full of grammatical mistakes and offensive language that still ranks fairly highly on Google Searches for “Final Fantasy VII Walkthrough”. This will somehow end up being my greatest achievement.
I have a few.
- My great-great-uncle was a crew member on the Bluenose for most of the races it won.
- My family is distantly related to the Kennedys - my branch settled in St. John’s, Newfoundland, about 20 years before the US branch left Ireland. The other side of the family in Newfoundland is descended from the original founders of Power’s Gold Label Irish Whiskey.
- I have been mentioned on the Canadaland Shortcuts political podcast because the husband of a current cabinet minister (and national political columnist for Macleans) responded to my very polite and mild criticism of his bad and racist take on remote Indigenous communities with the middle finger emoji, and the tweet got read on the podcast.
- I have twice been mentioned on the Rooster Teeth Podcast. Once by real name for providing info on Twitter about something they were discussing, once by username in Podcast #500 (just this week) because I made a dumb joke in the live chat about the stupid thing Gavin was talking about and Gus read it on air.
I really don’t know. For me, the iconic and identifiable one was always foil, but that may just be my blinders from participating in that one. I don’t remember recognizing epee before I started, and it’s pretty distinctive, with fencers jabbing for toes and knees.
I, uh…yeah. Hmm. I’m aggressively unremarkable!
Got a short story and three poems published over two separate editions of my college’s annual literature magazine. I don’t think I’ve written poetry since then though.
Hey, I got my questions answered on Waypoint Radio once, does that count?
Oh, and I was published and interviewed in a Dutch Photoshop magazine when I was 16. Seeing my own creations in a magazine in bookstores was really weird but ultimately a good feeling!
I came in second place for sheriff in a local election. I lost by about 130 votes. They had about 130 votes and I had two. I didn’t campaign, or even live in the district, I just convinced two friends to write in vote for me.
I’m a former newspaper reporter /current freelancer. On occasion I’ll do the old ego search to see where my stories have been published. To my horror, I have one story that was blurbed and credited in a book by Ann ding-dong Coulter.
Won my previous workplace’s annual cribbage tournament the first (and only) time I played the game.
A local talk radio show used to take listener made audio bits and play the best live. The hosts really liked the couple I sent in and I was apparently one of their favorites. It’s kind of surreal hearing something I threw together in Audacity on the radio and have the hosts recognize me when I sent in another one.
I can’t really take credit for this one, but I’m related to The Great Unus, a performer in the Ringling Bros. circus who’s act was doing one finger handstands.
I help moderate a modestly popular gaming forum on the internet.
Check out my soundclou-
I share a great-grandmother with Kylie Minogue.
When we were little me and my brother were interviewed by our local paper for… being identical twins? I guess? I’m not really sure what it was all about, but I remember getting my picture taken by a cool tree.
I was once featured and interviewed in a local city newspaper for my comics, I’m sure it was embarrassing.
I also did a comic strip for the same newspaper on garbage pay (but I didn’t know any better at the time) and I know that was embarrassing.
I used to do street car mod photoshops and was once printed in the magazine in this weekly feature column they had.
My grandparents’ parrot was also in the papers, just for being a cool bird I guess.
I once made a viral tumblr post by posting a video I saw on twitter of some big cute wolves at a wildlife santuary, it’s currently sitting at around 569k notes. I deleted it after 20k and it broke my tumblr notification system for months.
And perhaps my greatest accomplishment:
my mlp porn was featured on Tosh.0 once…
