I like Ginchiyo Tachibana a lot, that sword is just too cool.

I also love Ginchiyo and appreciate that she’s in the game in lieu of her Husband.

I think I’ve got to many favourites but out of the many sleep over coop dynasty warriors fest it was settled that my cousin was a Wei boy with Xiahou Dun, my brother as Shu lord with Guan Yu,and I as Wu with Zhou Yu.
Lots of characters I liked tho

Wei - Pretty hard choice but if I HAD to pick one then Xiahou Yuan
Wu - I dunno, probably like Lu Meng? I like them as a faction but I’m not really a fan of any specific character so much.
Shu - It’s gotta be Guan Yu. Like not even a contest.
Jin - Wang Yuanji if only because she’s probably the most likable character.
Other - The only true choice, Lu Bu .

Ever since picking up Dynasty Warriors 3 Xiahou Dun has been one of my favorite characters in the series. How can you not like a guy with a cool eyepatch. I can’t remember which DW this was but I vividly remember a cutscene where he pulls out an arrow from his eye. Then he just shrugs it off to go finish the fight.

Both of their play styles are really fun, and I just really like Omega Force’s depictions of their characters.

Omega Force’s depiction of Nobunaga has become the definitive one for me, the style, the voice acting, from top to bottom I just love the way they handle him.

Looking back on this comment really makes me want to explain what it is I like about Omega Force’s characterizations so much. Because if you don’t know anything about Japanese or Chinese history and literature, you might be one of those chuckleheads that scoffs with a comment like, “lol, dumb anime waifus” or some nonsense.
Side note: Using “anime” as a blanket, shorthand descriptor for writing, design or anything artistic is intellectually simplistic at best and dishonest at worst.)
Anyway, the cool thing about Ginchiyo’s design is that the lightning motif in her weapons and attacks aren’t there just to make her look tough. It’s all a reference to her father Dousetsu, who in real life was fucking struck by lightning and left partially paralyzed, and then, not having any male heirs, insisted that his daughter take temporary command of the Tachibana clan even though she was a kid at the time. Yes, there was a time when the Tachibana were technically led by a ten-year-old. And if what stories that exist have any validity to them, she apparently grew up to be very intimidating. (And also apparently smarter than her husband, who had the bright idea of joining the western army at Sekigahara. That didn’t work out so well.)
And while information on Zhang Chunhua is scarce, her characterization in Dynasty Warriors 8 is hilarious. She’s one of the few people on Earth capable of putting the fear of god into her husband, the otherwise unflappable strategist Sima Yi, with nary a word. And it’s a depiction that’s owed to an old story in which, in order to keep her husband’s ploy of pretending to be ill so he can skip out on his duties and focus on his personal writing (some things never change), she fucking murders their maid when the ruse is only potentially threatened.
History is hardcore.
omg, I’ve been waiting YEARS for someone to ask this. For the love of all that is holy, my favorite is Guan Ping. I loved that big sword from the earlier franchise. Then they changed it and it made me sad.

The Sima family is hardcore and I also really enjoy their family hijinks. I can certainly appreciate your love of Ginchiyo Tachibana, she was, if any history is to be believed, 100% better in every way than her husband.
