I throw freight please end me lol
I’m a designer that mostly works in the realm of digital/web. My day job includes making a lot of social posts, email creative, banner ads, and site graphics for companies that aren’t a good fit to have creative departments internally (think big texhnical/engineering companies).
In the off hours I do some web-dev here and there, but mostly do vector art and am planning a beginners UI/UX class at my alma matter this coming fall.
I do AutoCAD layouts, graphic design (posters, graphics, etc), web design, layouts, management and a few other things.
I don’t exactly hate my job, but I do hate my work director.
Currently I’m a software tester for a small platform dev startup.
BUT I handed in my notice a few days ago, and next month I’m going to be moving to London to be a games tester!
Up until the beginning of this year, I was a design engineer for large manufacturing plants. But then I got laid off and now I’m going through the licensing exams to be a financial advisor. So far I’m liking this life a whole lot better. Shorter commutes, higher pay ceiling, and I don’t have to work with completely socially inept people anymore.
Nice to see another cyber security person here, was starting to think I was the only one.
I’m a cyber security consultant. You hear about that Wanna cry ransomware? Yeah, I have to deal with stuff like that. I work on a small team so I wear all the hats, policy writer, auditor, analyst, architect. Honestly, and I think I might be ok here saying this, but the movie Hackers and the anime Ghost in the Shell gave me an interest in cyber security and are the reasons I got into this field. I was originally studying programming with an eye towards being a game dev, but realized that I’d have better employment opportunities in cyber security.
For anyone who is interested, do it! The pay is amazing, and there is no shortage of companies who need help on cyber security. Also, penetration testing and malware analysis are basically like puzzle games.
