It’s highkey really good if you’re topping off the dog with literally everything else available.
One time I was at a friend’s house and her parents for some reason had these big freshly cut basil leaves from their garden on the table for the hamburgers and hot dogs. I tried it on my veggie dog and loved it and now I eat basil on fake hot dogs when I can. I probably also put mayo on it at her house. I would have done it when I ate real hot dogs too. To be fair though I have no shame with regard to food and eat all sorts of weird stuff lol
I think the only thing I ever get mayo on is a BLT at Jimmy Johns.
No, dogs cool themselves off by panting and I would turn to water or ice first.
I appreciate the divisiveness in the results; personally wouldn’t have considered it but the more I think about it, the more I think it is worth a try!
I would rather eat six gallons of mustard than one tablespoon of mayo. Do NOT test me like this
I’m not saying I’m against the idea but I can’t see myself doing it any time soon. Doesn’t help that the UK doesn’t have much Hot Dog culture outside of the capital.
A hot dog is missing something without mayo. Stands in Toronto struggle with regulations about leaving mayo bottles out in the heat because the demand is there.
I like ketchup and mayo together. They belong together!!
That Splatfest was an hard choice for me.
In Seattle, we put cream cheese on hotdogs.
I tried that once and it was… okay. It’s definitely not something we do in my country though. Here’s it’s ketchup and maybe mustard.
Hmm, I’m interested in trying it for the sake of a new experience but I don’t see how it can compare to ketchup and mustard.
Hmm excuse me, I think you misspelled “jalapenos and onions” in your poll
Absolutely not. But I loathe mayonnaise.
Hmm, interesting idea
I’ll make a mental note to try it out next time I have an opportunity.
Been fascinated the couple last years with the american toppings for hotdogs.
Here in Sweden most just have ketchup and mustard.
Althoo some put pickles (mixed with bell pepper, onion and some other stuff.
Also think shrimps in a creamy sauce is a classic as well.
No I can’t recommend mayo on a hot dog. I did however once drunkenly put dairy lea cheese on a hotdog, and ate the lot. No way I’m trying it sober though.
Cosmic Brain: Sour Cream on a hotdog
I’d never considered it, but for me, it really depends on what else is on the hot dog.
For instance, if the hot dog also has, say, pastrami and a rye bun, then sure, mayo away.
If the hot dog has lettuce on it like a sub, then sure, mayo it up.
But just a plain old hot dog? Hmm. I’d probably stick with stadium mustard.
I reserve all my mayonnaise for actual woofing dogs.
I like the mashed potato korv wrap thing you can get from food stands over there. I don’t know if it’s a specifically Swedish thing, or if I just haven’t seen it elsewhere because I’m insufficiently well-travelled.
Oh that’s true. Heard of that. Never tried it. But I’m positive it’s typical Swedish (or at least scandinavian)
